Training
I hate to admit it, but I lost all my motivation. All of it. I think it had been fading for months, but last week I started questioning whether I should DNS CIM. I was kind of dreading the race, and worried I'd injure myself putting my body through all those miles when my legs were so unprepared. In 2013 when I ran CIM the first time, I got injured a couple times and really struggled to get consistent miles in, BUT, when I was injured I was able to do some quality cross training. Dan and I pool ran, I hit the elliptical and the bike, and managed to run a great race. This year was different. I had no delusions that I’d pull out a great race when my body wasn’t able to do ANYthing for so many weeks of training. Once I decided I had to run, I tried to come up with a plan. Run hard and walk the last 6-8 miles? Do 1 mile run, 1 mile walk right from the start? I settled on running by feel to the half, throwing in some tempo miles if I could, and if I had to walk the last 10k, so be it!
