"You're moving to... Ada?"
I got this reaction a lot when friends who knew Oklahoma found out I'd be living not in Norman, Oklahoma City or Tulsa, but Ada. Land of... well, I'm not sure of what yet. What I do know is it will be a great adventure! I don't know a single person there, nor will any other dietetic interns from my program be working with me. I am pretty excited though. In 2008 I up and moved to Big Sky, Montana not knowing anybody there, and it became one of the greatest adventures of my life. Ada will be riddled with hard work, studying, heat, humidity, and perhaps a tornado warning or two, but I can't wait to learn and grow in the dietetics profession.
As for running, I had to drop from the Never Summer 100k put on by the awesome Gnar Runners since this internship starts a bit earlier than the others I applied to. I'm obviously a little bummed and will miss out on a SWEET race, but there will always be next year! For now, it's time to focus on learning as much as I can during this internship. Rather than spend my weekends slogging out 20 mile runs in the Oklahoma heat and humidity, I'm excited to work on 5k training- something I've always wanted to do, but just couldn't commit! I didn't want to miss out on any long trail running opportunities! Now I'll have no mountains, the weather will be less than ideal, I won't have a lot of time, and I'll be closer to sea level. Perfect time to commit to 5k training I'd say!
T-minus 5 days until I leave this beautiful state...
